BG Plast takes a decisive step into the extrusion coating sector with the installation of a state-of-the-art 3200 mm plant at an important customer in Poland, and the recent technical-commercial partnership with Extech.
This partnership marks our structured entry into the technical coating sector for the construction and industrial sectors, consolidating an expertise already gained through years of experience in the lamination of plastic materials with textile and natural supports.
The extrusion coating plant: technical features and applications
The new plant installed at a customer in Poland is specifically designed for the production of waterproofing films for the construction industry. Thanks to its high useful width of 3200 mm, the plant enables the production of large-format rolls, which are ideal for applications such as moisture barriers, foundation membranes, roofing and drainage coatings.
Based on our experience in the multilayer extrusion industry, the plant can process a wide range of polymers, including PVC, TPU, EVA, PP, TPO, TPV, and flexible materials such as nonwoven fabrics, carpet, and natural fibers.
The technological core of the line is represented by:
- Single and twin-screw extruders with high-efficiency degassing systems;
- Calenders with independent cylinders, equipped with dedicated motorization and forced circulation thermal control;
- “Cross-axis” systems for micrometric adjustment of sheet thickness;
- Flat die up to 6000 mm (available on request), for high-yield productions and exceptional widths;
- Multi-layer configurations (up to 6 layers) with barrier or functionalized films and combinations between polymers and materials (such as PP, TPU, PVC on TNT, natural fibers, and carpet).
Advanced features that enable the system to adapt to highly specialized production to ensure homogeneity of thickness, adhesion between materials, aesthetic quality and high mechanical properties. Flexible line layout allows future expansions, integration of quality control, and adaptation to sustainable or recycled materials.
The partnership with EXTECH: an Italian binomial to innovate coating
To strengthen this expansion in the extrusion coating sector, BG Plast has entered into a technical-commercial partnership with Extech srl, an Italian company based in Oleggio (NO), specializing in the design and construction of extrusion equipment for plastic film and customized solutions for flexible packaging.
An all-Italian synergy that was created with the aim of developing advanced, high value-added solutions capable of combining:
- BG Plast’s experience in building modular and high-precision plants for large-scale coating,
- and Extech’s expertise in handling complex technical materials, including barrier films and multilayer structures for industrial, construction and food applications.
The new team will work on optimizing plant architectures, with a focus on extrusion coating lines dedicated to multilayer lamination, surface treatment, and integration of recycled materials, in accordance with the principles of circular economy and sustainable innovation.
The agreement is undoubtedly a concrete opportunity to respond quickly and competently to customers’ requests for customization, offering turnkey solutions ready to meet the challenges of the market and future regulations.
K2025 Düsseldorf: the must-attend event for the thermoplastic industry
