Sheet extrusion lines for thermoplastics
BG Plast designs and manufactures extrusion sheet lines for thermoplastics, tailored for industrial manufacturers operating in the plastics processing sector. As a manufacturer of extrusion systems, we develop complete solutions that integrate extruders, calenders and control systems to guarantee our customers and partners dimensional accuracy, process stability and long-term reliability.
At the heart of the sheet extrusion line are the calenders, machines available in various geometries and configurations depending on the material being processed and the characteristics of the final product. Precision electro-mechanical control over the opening and closing of the cylinders allows for constant and fully adjustable thicknesses ranging from 0.1 to 40 mm, making BG Plast lines suitable for the production of both thin sheets and thicker sheets.
The plastic sheet extrusion lines are designed for processing a wide range of polymers, including PP, PE, PS, ABS, PET, PETG, PVC and even applications dedicated to HDPE geomembranes.
Applications of sheet extrusion lines
BG Plast sheet extrusion lines are designed to meet a variety of application requirements, depending on the material being processed, the thickness and the system configuration. The solutions developed enable the production of sheets and foils in PP, PE, PS, ABS, PET, PETG and PVC, intended for industrial sectors where continuous production, dimensional accuracy and consistent surface quality are required.
The lines are used in the production of sheets for thermoforming, in the medical sector, for technical and industrial items, and in general industrial applications, where sheets are used for partitioning elements, linings and functional components. Another application area involves the production of waterproofing membranes and HDPE geomembranes, used in the environmental and infrastructure sectors. The ability to integrate the extrusion line with a calender and to configure co-extrusion systems allows the plant to be adapted even to more complex productions, such as rigid PVC sheets used in sectors such as technical industry, automotive, construction, industrial furniture and visual communication.

Technical specifications of BG Plast sheet extrusion lines
Each sheet extrusion line is custom-designed to meet the customer’s specific requirements. The clamping force of the calenders, expressed in kg/linear cm, varies depending on the polymer being processed and is determined by the size of the hydraulic pistons used to move the cylinders. Typical values fall within a range of 80 to 120 kg/linear cm to ensure the correct lamination pressure for each material.
Cylinder temperature control is managed by dedicated thermoregulation units, one for each cylinder, which allow independent control of water flow and temperature. This solution guarantees thermal uniformity, process stability and uniform quality of the extruded sheet. Each cylinder is driven by an independent gear motor unit to improve control and production repeatability.
The dimensions of our extrusion lines, as well as those of the calenders, vary depending on the final dimensions of the product. The cylinder table can cover a range from 450 mm up to 8000 mm, for systems suitable even for large-format production.
Thanks to the various feed-block configurations, BG Plast has developed numerous co-extrusion projects, integrating up to 7 extruders, to meet the most advanced needs of the plastics processing industry.
