The SAGEC extrusion line is one of our most advanced solutions dedicated to the production of multilayer honeycomb panels made of thermoplastic materials. It is an innovative, patented system designed to produce bubble sheets with a three-dimensional inner layer, obtained in a single extrusion pass, thanks to a new calendering concept developed in-house by BG Plast.

SAGEC is the result of our extensive experience in the engineering and construction of high-performance sheet extrusion lines, and is designed for industrial manufacturers seeking lightweight, durable, recyclable panels suitable for advanced technical applications. The system enables the production of multi-layer bubble panels with customizable internal geometries, available upon request in various configurations to meet the structural and functional requirements of the finished product.

Applications of multilayer bubble panels produced using BG Plast’s SAGEC system

Sheets and panels manufactured using the SAGEC extrusion line are used in numerous industrial sectors where mechanical strength, lightness and durability are essential. One of the main applications is industrial and reusable packaging, including technical packaging and foldable packaging systems (sleeve packs), designed to guarantee protection, rigidity and ease of handling.

In the automotive sector, SAGEC hollow panels are used for interior components, such as headliners and structural trim, thanks to their high resistance to bending and compression, combined with low weight. Additional applications include the building and construction sector, agriculture, and panels for solar systems, where insulating properties, moisture resistance, and dimensional stability are critical.

The system’s versatility also allows for the lamination of panels with pre-printed films, fabrics, or carpets, further expanding their range of applications.

Technical specifications of the SAGEC extrusion line

The SAGEC extrusion line enables the production of multi-layer honeycomb panels with thicknesses ranging from 4 to 12 mm, net widths of 1300 mm or 2000 mm and a production capacity ranging from 300 to 1000 kg/h, depending on the system configuration.

The resulting panels feature a three-dimensional internal structure that offers:

  • high mechanical strength in both MD and CD directions (machine direction and cross direction);
  • excellent resistance to bending and compression;
  • high resistance to delamination;
  • insulating and impact-resistant properties;
  • resistance to water and moisture.

The materials are 100% recyclable, approved for food contact, washable, and easily printable. The system supports various configurations, including bidirectional structures (+2–2, +4–4, +5–5) and bubble solutions, adaptable to the specific requirements of the project.
