Fifty years of trade fairs, innovation, and passion for extrusion.
From 1975 to 2025, Florio Roccon, founder and CEO of BG Plast, has participated in all 17 editions of the K Fair in Düsseldorf, the world’s most important for the plastics and rubber industry.
This year’s edition was not only a success, but also a symbolic milestone: the “golden anniversary” of an entrepreneur who has shared half a century of technological evolution with the sector.
“Every K is a story in itself, but 2025 will remain special. In recent days, we have seen how plastic can truly be ‘green, smart, and responsible,’ and how engineering can make a difference in real sustainability, not just declared,” says Roccon.

K 2025: a trade fair that confirms the strength of the sector
With over 3,275 exhibitors from 66 countries and more than 175,000 professional visitors, K 2025 confirmed its role as a global benchmark for innovation in the plastics and rubber industry.
73% of visitors came from abroad and, according to the organizers, 67% were decision makers. Among the destinations of these key figures, our stand was one of the most visited in the area dedicated to extrusion machinery in general and the production of smooth and dimpled geomembranes in particular, welcoming customers and partners from Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
Our Made in Italy brand brought the most advanced technologies to Düsseldorf, symbolizing the ability to combine precision, flexibility, and sustainability: SAGEC, the new 4500 calender, geomembrane lines, and extrusion coating solutions.
SAGEC: a new paradigm for thermoplastic panels
Among the innovations that have aroused the most curiosity is SAGEC, a system patented by BG Plast for the extrusion of multilayer bubble panels in a single step.
Thanks to a three-dimensional internal structure, the panels produced are lightweight, resistant and completely recyclable, suitable for a wide range of industrial applications, from automotive to construction, from packaging to furniture.
During the days of the fair, numerous international visitors stopped to take a closer look at the samples on display and the demonstration sections. Many technicians and engineers highlighted the potential of the technology for applications where weight and rigidity must coexist, such as in sandwich panels and lightweight structural components.
“SAGEC represents a step change,” explains Roccon. “It allows panels with high mechanical properties and thermo-acoustic performance to be obtained, reducing production times, consumption, and emissions. Research is transformed into industrial value.”
With widths of up to 2050 mm and productivity of over 1000 kg/h, SAGEC has opened up new prospects for efficiency and sustainability for thermoplastic manufacturers.
Calender 4500 for large-scale extrusion
Another major highlight at K 2025 was the debut of the calender 4500, a system for the production of special sheets and geomembranes with a 4500 mm cylinder table.
An engineering achievement that combines large dimensions and millimeter control to ensure uniform thickness, surface quality, and versatility in the materials that can be processed (PP, PET, PS, ABS, PVC).
The calender, displayed in section at the stand, won over numerous engineers and production managers interested in the control solutions and structural robustness of the system. Particular attention was paid to the possibilities for customization and applications in the construction and packaging sectors.
“With the 4500, we have crossed the boundary between large format and precision,” comments Roccon. “We wanted a system capable of producing sheets of exceptional size without sacrificing quality. Today we can say that this is a reality.”

Great interest in our 4500 mm calender
Geomembranes: efficiency and sustainability for large-scale projects
The event also provided an opportunity to present new developments in geomembrane lines, designed for environmental protection and waterproofing in infrastructure, agriculture, and industry.
BG Plast lines reach widths of up to 8000 mm, with thicknesses from 1 to 3 mm and productivity up to 1500 kg/h. They can process HDPE and LDPE in multilayer configurations and with the possibility of direct coupling with geotextiles, thus reducing welding and installation times.
Many operators in the environmental and hydric sectors have expressed great interest in the lines’ ability to guarantee uniformity and durability even on minimal thicknesses, with an approach focused on energy efficiency and waste reduction.
“Geomembranes are one of the most interesting frontiers of sustainability,” explains Roccon. “Thanks to the accuracy of the calendering and the control of thermal parameters, we can guarantee durability and resistance without wasting material.”
Extrusion coating: new prospects for composite materials
There was also considerable interest in the extrusion coating solutions presented by BG Plast, a growing sector that allows polymers and flexible substrates to be combined in a single lamination process.
During K 2025, we illustrated the details of one of our latest projects: a 3200 mm plant for the production of waterproofing films for the construction industry, tailor-made for MDM NT (Poland). The system allows polymers such as PVC, TPU, EVA, TPO and TPV to be laminated with fabrics, nets, and nonwovens, generating high-performance multilayer materials for construction, coatings, and packaging.
Many visitors from the packaging and technical textiles sectors showed particular interest in the versatility of the layout and the possibility of integrating recycled or biobased materials.
“Coating is a strategic sector undergoing rapid evolution,” Roccon emphasizes. “Our lines offer flexibility and control, two elements that today make the difference between a good plant and a competitive one.”

Friendly, technical, and forward-looking discussions
Innovation, sustainability, and people
BG Plast’s success at the K 2025 trade fair reflects the direction the entire industry is taking. With the official motto “The Power of Plastics – Green, Smart, Responsible,” the expo focused on sustainability, digitalization, and social responsibility: values we have always promoted.
“For us, sustainability is not a slogan, but a natural consequence of a good project,” emphasizes Roccon. “Our lines are designed to be efficient and grow with the customer: this is the only way to make innovation last.”
A positive outcome and a look to the future
The BG Plast stand was visited by hundreds of professionals, including engineers, technical managers, and international buyers, confirming that the market continues to invest in high-quality technological solutions.
“K 2025 has given us enthusiasm and confidence,” concludes Roccon. “It was great to see long-standing customers and new contacts interested not only in the machinery, but also in the vision that inspires it. Plastic has changed, but the desire to innovate is the same as it was fifty years ago.”
See you in 2028 for the next K trade fair, while we continue to pursue our goal of transforming technology into opportunities for the thermoplastics industry.

Thank you all, see you next time!
